Hello January 2022… we are excited for you!
2022 came in with a bang at Hearts that Hope as it started with a phone call from a social worker asking if we have space for a 1-year-old baby boy. We have said no for the past 4 years because finances have been so tight. It was so nice to be able to finally say yes! Siyabonga has been such a pleasure to have in our house. He was severely neglected and malnourished when he came but has perked up so much in the last two weeks. We are so excited to have him in our family. The girls have loved looking after him almost all day every day. We have spent so much time loving on him this past month in an effort to make up for his first year on earth. We are just praying that everything at court goes well and he gets to stay in our family.
Our more secure financial position in 2021 can be attributed mainly to two things.
Number 1; Stock A Shop just keeps going. What we thought would be done in 2/3 weeks has been going on for over 6 months. To date, we have stocked over 800 shops with R7500 and over 200 shops with freezers. We will be stocking 200 more shops in February with 100 more freezers. I really can’t believe how God has helped us through this time and turned something evil into something good. It is unbelievable that we would have stocked 1000 shops in 7 months’ time. I really can’t fathom what has been accomplished by a team of 7 people.
Number 2; The start of the basketball academy. AT the start of 2021 finances looked scary so Kent started looking at other avenues of income. His passion for youth and basketball seemed like the perfect place to start. That also exploded in 2021. The basketball academy is now in 6 schools and Kent is also training an elite team on a court in a park that he is building through donations from supporters. At the beginning of the year, he secured two scholarships for underprivileged boys from Ballito Basketball Academy to attend Northwood High School where he coaches the 1st team. This is a life-changing opportunity for these two boys.
We are so excited for the future and to see what 2022 will bring to us.
We are still in need of support for our children’s schooling and for salaries for 2022. If you would like to get involved please give through cheque, Venmo, Zapper, EFT or Paypal. Even just a once-off donation makes such a big difference to the running of our home.
