At Hearts that Hope the month of March meant…
School holidays!!!
It is one of the highlights of our year when the kids are on school holiday as we get to spend quality time with them. With the busy pace of life and the routine of school it is so nice to get the opportunity to slow down and just hang out with our children and get to know better them without the stress of everyday life.
The two week break we just had was a great one for HTH. It gave me the opportunity to sit back and reflect and observe the growing bond between all our kids and the house moms. We definitely feel and live like one big family, which is a testament to God’s grace over us as there has been a lot of pain and hardship in our children’s lives that we are in the process of overcoming. Hearing them all calling each other brothers and sisters, even our own biological kids, is a true gift and makes us so happy.
Most of our days were just spent at home with everyone running around our estate, riding bikes, fishing, playing sports, playing house, dressing up and even throwing in a birthday party or two. The kids had the time of their lives just being kids.
Another highlight for me was that my Dad flew in from the USA and he got to spend two weeks with us and experience how we live. It was a time for me to reflect on my childhood and realise that Lyndall and I have been able to give these 15 kids a similar childhood along with great memories just as I had when I was growing up- this was a special moment for me.
